Drinks, Music, Celebrities, and Friends

Harper Blynn...where to start?! This past Sunday evening, a couple friends and I went out to West Hollywood to see this band play at the Troubadour. Kristina had gone to an Ingrid Michaelson concert in Tuscon last year and fell in love with the opening band, Harper Blynn. She bought Myra a ticket for her birthday and Janine and I bought some as well to tag along. This was my first show EVER [i know...sorta sad] but its an understatement to say I was excited. I looked them up on Spotify and was listening to their music nonstop for about two weeks. I was in love. Their music was right up my alley and I love getting ready  while their songs play in the background. Actually, I'm listening to them now as I type! Anyways, we started our night by eating dinner at Barney's Beanery on 3rd street promenade in Santa Monica, which was a blast because I felt just like I was in Pasadena at Barney's. After that we made our way back to West Hollywood. We stopped in at the restaurant next door to use the restroom because the doors were not open to the Troubadour yet. As Kae and I were sitting at the bar, glaring at the highly priced menu, our attention was suddenly drawn to the right side of the bar, when we both heard a familiar voice. It was Laura Prepon [Donna from "That 70s Show" sitting at the bar with her boyfriend and a couple friends! I was starstruck. I grew up watching that show after school while doing my homework and I couldn't believe I was sitting at a bar with her. I'm all for subtlety and didn't want her to see me freaking out so I slowly got up and made my way to the bathroom. We made our way out of the secluded and exclusive restaurant Dan Tana's and got in line for the show. Things were pretty mellow for the next hour, we hung out in line, made our way in, got a drink, watched the opener Madi Diaz, who was AMAZING by the way, and then Harper Blynn was on. The whole atmosphere of the Troubador changed at this point. It was the last show of their tour and they definitely made it a great one. As I was standing at the front I glanced around the room and saw Laura Prepon once again, enjoying the music just as we were. I loved that. After the show we went over and were looking at the merch, getting pictures with the band and just talking. We couldn't resist ourselves any longer; we had to take a picture with Laura. So Myra, being the most calm and collected, nonchalantly asked her if she would mind taking a picture with us. I was giggling and trying my hardest to make it seem like it wasn't a HUGE deal. But it was! Not only was this my first show, but it was my first picture with a celebrity...and I live in LA! I'm a disgrace to the So Cal stereotype. She was really cool about it though and went on to chat with the band with her friends. That was our night! I absolutely had a blast and will remember the night forever.
