On this night...

On this night where I find myself sitting in self pity, feeling sad and forgotten, I am reminded even more of my need for a Savior. His grace and redeeming love never fail to make me feel joy and happiness even in the moments of greatest despair. Forever a child of an everlasting King. 

September

Today is the last day of September and all I have to say is WOAH! it went by fast. My first month of my last year of college is over and I will never have the time back. I think it is safe to say however that it was time well spent. Not only have I not gotten behind in school [YET] but I have made some amazing memories with amazing people. the stages of my emotions this morning

I had a rough start to my Sunday morning. I slept through my alarm and woke up to a phone call, "Where are you?" SHOOT! Myra and her friend Lina were at church waiting for me and I was in bed. Great. Then I get a text from Megan, "Hey are you here? Were gonna grab starbies." Of course! The first Sunday of the semester and I bail. SO its safe to say I was pretty bummed. I can say that my spirits have lifted significantly fast however. My morning quiet time always seems to reveal some deep rooted fact that I know already but that I need to be reminded of in that distinct moment. Todays quiet time is about living dependently on Jesus amongst the bustle of our busy busy lives. How convenient seeing that I am about to embark on my senior year taking 15 units and working 3 jobs while attempting to have a social life as well. Hmph. In the book I am using for devotionals, along with a note written from the perspective of Jesus, there are a handful of scriptures that you can look up that are related. The one that stuck with me the most, and that I will end this entry with, is 2 Corinthians 12:9-10,

"But he said to me, 'My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.' Therefore I will boast all the more gladly of my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may rest upon me. For the sake of Christ, then, I am content with weakness, insults, hardships, persecutions, and calamities. For when I am weak, I am strong." 

- 2 Corinthians 12:9-10

After a restless night, I have found comfort in my morning quiet time. It's wonderful how God places little angel kisses in our lives at the most opportune moments. "In peace I will both lie down, and sleep; for you alone, O Lord, make me dwell in safety." Psalm 4:8

Can't Sleep

Second night in my new apartment...and I can not seem to fall asleep. As my last year of college approaches, I can't seem to stop my mind from racing. I keep creating scenarios in my mind of how it is going to go. There are so many factors that play into how a semester will play out. How many trips I take home, how often I am on campus, how much I am working, how tough my classes are. I'm pretty sure I got into bed around 11pm; it is not 12:20am and I am still desperately trying to find sleep. So in an attempt to buy time: here are a couple pictures from Lacey's 21st Birthday!

I just wrote out this wonderful post that was very therapeutical; marking my start of senior year...and it got DELETED!! Arrgghhhh. Anyways...here is my favorite pic of the week: Lion King!!!

Throughout my life I have gained a ton of painting experience. Maybe it comes from my Mexican heritage, or it could be my family's DIY approach to life; all I know is that I'm close to being a pro. So when the property manager at my new apartment told us we were allowed to paint, Kayla and I were more than thrilled. Most of our furniture is white, so white on white is pretty mundane. Turns out our new bedding coordinates perfectly together and we decided on a grey to paint the walls. It is definitely an endeavor whenever you decide to paint a room however we had it pretty easy because the walls were freshly touched up and cleaned. Pamela was generous enough to come down and help me tape up the wall edges, window seals, and outlets while Kayla was driving up which made the painting part even easier. I can't wait to move in all my furniture now! Here are pictures from the night :] - Alicio

The 21st Year of MarsBars

The long awaited moment of the summer finally arrived this past weekend. Mariana Williams FINALLY turned 21. Seeing that I turned 21 at the beginning of the summer it felt like August 5th was years away. These pictures are only from the first hour of her birthday. Unfortunately I have no pictures from her actual birthday because I sadly forgot my memory card at home. There are a couple phone pics I will throw in at the end but they aren't the best quality. Overall it was a fun weekend and I could definitely use some rest days. Enjoy! -Alice
